On Tuesday I sent out The AI Governance Convergence, the first of four quarterly reads for 2026. One finding has stuck with me since, so here it is on its own.

The governance work is splitting in two, and it happened in a single quarter. The controls, audit trails, policy checks, evidence collection, are being handed to automation. The judgment, what counts as acceptable risk, where the line sits, who signs off, is being hired for: roles, committees, named humans. Both moved at once.

Why it matters for a Q3 plan: if you budget governance as one line, you'll get it wrong. One half wants tooling. The other half wants headcount. Teams that treat them as one purchase tend to over-tool and under-staff, or the reverse.

That's one of four findings in the read. The whole thing is at ins7ghts.com/drops, €99 for the single read or €499 for the full year, the launch price this week. But honestly, I mostly wanted you to have this one.
